SAFAD aims to help relieve poverty by promoting appropriate development, community participation and capacity building to create sustainable livelihoods. Since 1969, SAFAD has sent over 340 post-graduate volunteers with specialist technical skills to almost 40 different countries in the developing world to support local NGOs on existing and new projects. SAFAD volunteers have technical skills in disciplines such as water, soil and environmental sciences, engineering and business management.
